Lindsey Roy

DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE CONSULTING

Lindsey Roy has worked in college admissions and college counseling for over 20 years. She began her career in college admissions at her alma mater, UNC Chapel Hill, where she served on the undergraduate admissions committee for seven years.

Her professional path then led her to Ravenscroft School, where she guided students and families through the college admissions process as the school’s Assistant Director of College Counseling. Lindsey transitioned back to higher education when she was appointed to the position of Associate Director of Admissions at Meredith College, an all-women’s college in Raleigh, North Carolina. Most recently before coming to Advantage College Planning, she joined the inaugural administrative team at a new STEM-based charter high school, where she had the pleasure of counseling the school’s first graduating class.

An avid reader and writer, one of her favorite professional experiences was serving on the Editorial Committee for the college admissions and counseling peer-reviewed journal, The Journal of College Admissions. Though no amount of reading can replace the experience she gained when she counseled her own child through the college search and application process. That first-hand knowledge provided her with a unique perspective to help students and families through their own processes.

A highly trained yoga teacher, Lindsey approaches her work with students in the same way as she teaches a yoga class: with compassion, empathy, and support. Ever optimistic and cheerful, she is passionate about helping students discover their true potential. Originally from Syracuse, New York, Lindsey lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her family and their Bernese Mountain Dogs, Shya and Everest.
